Antidepressants:

Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI): Selegiline (Zelapar, Eldepryl, Emsam), Isocarboxazid (Marplan), Tranylcypromine (Parnate), Phenelzine (Nardil) – stop 14 days before surgery

Diet Meds including but not limited to:

Phentermine, Qsymia, Bontril, Belviq, Termate, Contrave, etc. – stop 14 days before surgery

Opioid Antagonists:

Naloxone (Narcan), Naltrexone (Vivitrol) – stop 3 days before surgery Erectile Dysfunction Meds: Sildenafil (Viagra), Tadafil (Cialis), Vardenafil (Levitra) stop 3 days before surgery

Anti-manic:

Lithium (Eskolith, Lithobid) – stop 1 day before surgery

Oral Antidiabetics:

Do NOT take day of surgery

Insulin:

Do NOT take sliding scale insulin or quick-acting Insulin day of surgery; if taking long-acting Insulin or if you are on an Insulin pump, check with your doctor that prescribes the Insulin regarding the dosage the night before if taking at night.

Anticoagulants:

Warfarin (Coumadin)- Stop as instructed by prescribing physician, either cardiologist or primary care; PT/INR – 24 hours preop/per surgeon

Anticoagulants/Antiplatelets:

Clopidogrel (Plavix), Apixaban (Eliquis), Ticlodipine (Ticlid), Dipyridamole (Aggrenox), Dabigatran (Pradaxa), Dalteparin (Fragmin), Tinzaparin (Innohep), Heparin, etc. - Stop as instructed by prescribing physician, either cardiologist or primary care physician

NSAIDs:

Ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), Naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn), Celecoxib (Celebrex), Meloxicam (Mobic), Diclofenac (Voltaren), Etodolac, Diflunisal, Nabumetone, Ketorolac (Toradol), etc.- Stop as instructed by surgeon

NSAIDS:

Aspirin (Ecotrin, Aspirn 81), etc.- Stop as instructed by prescribing physician, either cardiologist or primary care physician
