Unless instructed differently by your nurse do not eat, use mints, hard candies, lozenges, chew gum or use chewing tobacco after midnight the evening prior to surgery.
FLUID GUIDELINES FOR ALL PATIENTS
Patients may have no solids after midnight, the night prior to surgery. Water Guidelines: Adults - up to 8 ounces; Pediatrics - up to 2 ounces. Breast milk may be taken until 4 hours before arrival to the surgery center. Infant formula may be given 6 hours before arrival to the surgery center.
Do not take any medications after midnight, unless instructed to do so by your physician or the surgery center staff. The surgery center staff will give you specific instructions regarding your medication when you receive your arrival call the day prior to surgery.
Failure to follow these guidelines could result in the cancellation of your surgery.
